THE HEART OF THE GOOD NEWS

God has not turned away from you.

Christians believe God made us for relationship with him and with one another. Sin breaks that relationship and harms the world, but Jesus came to save, forgive, restore, and make people new. In his death and resurrection, Christians see both the seriousness of sin and the depth of God’s love.

Becoming a Christian is not joining a club or reaching a perfect standard. It is trusting Jesus Christ, turning toward him, and learning to follow him in the company of other believers.

A DISCERNMENT PATH

Take one honest step at a time.

  1. 01

    Start with Jesus

Christian faith begins with Jesus Christ: his life, teaching, death, resurrection, and invitation to follow him. Read one Gospel slowly—Luke or John are good places to begin—and ask what you see in him.

  2. 02

Be honest about what needs healing

The Bible calls this repentance: turning from sin and toward God. It is not pretending to be better than you are. It is bringing your real life into the light and trusting God to meet you there with truth and mercy.

  3. 03

    Receive grace as a gift

Christians believe we are reconciled to God because of what Jesus has done, not because we have earned our way to him. Faith means entrusting yourself to Christ—asking forgiveness, receiving his grace, and beginning to live under his care and leadership.

  4. 04

    Pray plainly

You do not need special wording to speak with God. You can tell him that you believe, that you have doubts, that you need forgiveness, or that you want to know him. A sincere prayer is the beginning of a real conversation, not a magic formula.

  5. 05

    Do not walk alone

Look for a church community that speaks truthfully about Jesus, treats people with dignity, reads Scripture seriously, practices love and repentance, and makes room for honest questions. Christians grow through worship, Scripture, prayer, friendship, service, and baptism.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PLACE TO START

A simple prayer

“Jesus, I want to know you. I bring you my questions, my failures, and the parts of my life I cannot fix on my own. Forgive me, teach me to trust you, and lead me in the way of life. Amen.”

If those words are not yours, do not force them. Tell God what is true for you. He is not afraid of an honest question.

“Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” John 6:37
